August 2011
31st August, 3pm
An update from the latest bet, an entertaining match saw Arsenal play some decent football and they emerged 1-2 away winners with a place in the Champions League proper. It was a close run thing, Udinese had a chance from the penalty spot that would have given them the opportunity to push on and win the game, but a very good save from the Arsenal keeper meant this wasn’t the case. A near miss and a small loss leave us £20 to the good at the end of August.

Bolton v Man City did not disappoint, in the end Manchester City came out on top by the odd goal in 5. This was easily good enough to bring home the over 2.5 goals bet, in fact it was settled before half time. The current score for August is now a respectable £32 in the black.
Next on my betting radar is the vital Champions League qualifying match between Udinese and Arsenal tomorrow night. Arsenal take a slender 1-0 lead into the 2nd leg, but things aren’t exactly going particularly well for them otherwise this season. The goal against Udinese is the only time they have scored this season, and the news today is that Nasri is off to Man City and Wenger is in trouble with UEFA again! Add to this the loss of Fabregas, lack of new players and a few on-field disciplinary issues, tomorrow could actually be a make or break game in their season.
With all this in mind I think the Betfair odds of 3.5 for Udinese to qualify looks generous. If they score the first goal tomorrow this price will drop a long way, so its also a potential trade, rather than leaving the bet to run to the end. Obviously on the other hand, if the first goal was to go to Arsenal, this would be likely to finish the bet off. I still think its worthy of a small investment though, so my bet is £12 on Udinese to knock Arsenal out.

A decent first bet then, after Manchester United laboured somewhat to a 2-1 victory over West Brom. Still, this puts us just over £12 up for the month, which I intend to invest again today.
Today the main game on Sky Sports sees Bolton take on Manchester City. Manchester City looked good in the second half of their opener, although this was perhaps in part due to Swansea tiring in their first Premier League outing. Bolton had a great start to the season as well, putting QPR firmly to the sword with a 4-0 romp at Loftus Road. Man City are rightly favourites, but do not expect Bolton to roll over, they are always a difficult side to beat on their own ground. Given the respective 4-0 wins last week, I’m going to go with goals in this – on Betfair you can currently get even money for over 2.5 goals.
I see this as a game that could start quickly, so will take the opening price. £20 on over 2.5 goals is todays bet.

July finished £20 in profit and we are hoping to improve on this with the start of the new Premier League season in August. There are lots of bookmaker promotions ahead of the new season, so if you fancy a Premier League Free Bet, it really is a great time to do it.
The weekend sees champions Manchester United heading away to West Brom. Current odds on Betfair are 1.53 for the United win, and given their pre-season form this looks generous. If you are yet to join this betting exchange, why not check out the current Betfair promo where you can earn up to £1,000 cashback!
I’ll be having £20 on the Manchester United win.
